THE OPPORTUNITY

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining the physical parts library and ensuring accurate inventory records. This includes processing work orders, assembling job bags, ordering and allocating parts for standard reports, and coordinating lab work as needed. The role also oversees shipping and receiving activities, including logging deliveries, managing off-site storage, and preparing shipments. Additionally, the specialist monitors and replenishes lab consumables to ensure availability while avoiding overstock, maintaining accurate records throughout all inventory processes.  

WHAT YOU WILL DO   

Parts Control 

  • Maintain the physical parts library and ensure that the inventory database accurately reflects the state and location of each item  

  • Process work orders and assemble job bags that contain the appropriate parts from the parts library  

  • Return parts and processed samples to the appropriate locations in the parts library  

  • Order and allocate parts for standard reports based on knowledge of the required number and type of parts required for each report type   

  • Request the necessary lab work to process the intact part to the state the lab specialist requires  

Shipping and Receiving 

  • Receive incoming deliveries and log them into the inventory database  

  • Send or receive parts to or from off-site storage  

  • Pack and prepare parts from inventory for shipping  

Lab Consumables Control 

  • Monitor and maintain the stock of lab consumable items to balance the need to have items readily available without storing excess stock on-site  

  • Order replacement materials when necessary  

  • Maintain records

WHO YOU ARE  

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory control, shipping/receiving, or a similar role. 

  • Demonstrated ability to log and reconcile all incoming and outgoing inventory within 24 hours of receipt/shipment. 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills to support timely fulfillment of work orders and part requests. 

  • Must be able to lift and move boxes weighing up to 40 lbs as part of daily shipping and receiving tasks.
